George Jones and Friends: Keeping Country Alive is an exceptional tribute to the iconic country music legend in Branson! To celebrate the legacy of George Jones, George Geisser steps away from his usual role as a fiddle and steel guitar player for The Re-Cliners, the talented band accompanying C.J. Newsom in her show, Classic Country’s Patsy Cline & Friends. This marks Geisser's debut as the headliner of a major Branson performance, where he captivates audiences with his remarkable vocals and heartfelt homage to the beloved star. Paying tribute to a figure as monumental as George Jones is no small feat; he was a true giant in the industry, earning numerous accolades, including seven Country Music Association awards and five from the Academy of Country Music. Additionally, he was honored with two Grammy Awards, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and had two of his songs—“He Stopped Loving Her Today” and “She Thinks I Still Care”—inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. He also received the distinguished recognition from the Kennedy Center Honors.
Alongside the award-winning tracks, Geisser showcases several of Jones' other popular songs, such as “The Race is On” and “I Don’t Need Your Rockin’ Chair.” While George Geisser could easily fill his show with the extensive catalog of George Jones, he keeps the performance fresh by incorporating music from other country legends like Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Randy Travis, and Tammy Wynette, who frequently collaborated with Jones.
