What Christmas Shows Are On in Branson in 2026?

Branson’s 2026 Christmas season stretches from the last week of October to the second day of January. What the listings do not show is that the lineup is different on almost every date inside that window. Shows open on different days, and several of the biggest close before New Year.

We read the 2026 run dates off each operator’s own website in September 2026 and put them side by side. The season turns out to fill up in stages and empty out the same way. On 1 November exactly one of the ten dated productions we tracked is running. From 17 November all ten are. By 29 December, five have closed for the year.

When Does the Branson Christmas Season Actually Start?

The season opens in stages rather than on one date. Dolly Parton’s Stampede starts its Christmas run on 29 October 2026, most of the productions we tracked follow in the first week of November, and Silver Dollar City opens An Old Time Christmas on 7 November. A trip on 1 November catches almost none of it.

That staggered opening is the thing to know when booking early, because an early November trip can look like a Christmas trip and not be one. On 1 November the only Christmas production running from our tracked list is the Stampede Christmas show, which the venue describes as a nostalgic North Pole and South Pole rivalry, with 32 horses in the arena.

By 5 November the picture changes sharply. Seven of the ten dated productions are open, including the Sight and Sound production and most of the Shepherd of the Hills dinner shows. Only Silver Dollar City, the North Pole Adventure and the carriage rides are still to come.

7 November is when Silver Dollar City opens and eight of the ten are running. The last two, the North Pole Adventure and the carriage rides, do not open until 13 and 17 November. So the date when everything is running at once is the 17th, not the 7th, and that is the line to book behind if you want the whole lineup.

Which Branson Christmas Shows Close Before New Year?

Five of the ten dated productions we tracked close before 29 December. The carriage rides stop first on 18 December, and of the dinner shows A Shepherd’s Christmas Carol ends first on 24 December. If you are travelling between Christmas and New Year you are choosing from half the lineup, not all of it.

It is the detail most likely to cost someone the show they travelled for, because the week between Christmas and New Year reads like the middle of the season and is actually the end of it. Here is what has already finished by 29 December 2026.

A Shepherd’s Christmas Carol closes on 24 December, the earliest of the dinner shows. A Christmas Story and the Old Trail Christmas dinner show both close on 26 December. The North Pole Adventure runs to 27 December, and the carriage rides finish earliest of all on 18 December.

What is still running in that final week is worth knowing too. Four productions run right through to 2 January 2027: the Stampede Christmas show, An Old Time Christmas at Silver Dollar City, the Trail of Lights, and the Christmas run of WhoDunnit Hoedown at the Playhouse Theatre. The Sight and Sound production runs to 31 December, so it is available on New Year’s Eve but not on New Year’s Day.

If a specific show is the reason for the trip, check its own closing date before booking anything else. Two families can book the same week in late December and see completely different Branson.

What Is the Best Christmas Show in Branson?

There is no single answer, because the shows are built for different evenings. The useful question is what kind of night you want. Branson’s Christmas productions split cleanly into large-scale theatre, dinner shows where the meal is part of the ticket, and variety and tribute shows built around music.

For scale, Miracle of Christmas at Sight and Sound is the one most people mean by a big Branson Christmas production. It runs 3 November to 31 December 2026, and the theatre publishes a runtime of two hours and twenty minutes with adult tickets at 59 to 79 dollars and children aged 2 to 12 at 34 dollars, all read from its own site in September 2026.

For an evening where dinner is the event rather than something you arrange around it, Shepherd of the Hills lists three separate Christmas dinner shows. A Christmas Story runs from 2 November to 26 December in the Playhouse Theatre and puts the film on stage while you eat.

For music, the Hughes Brothers Christmas Show opens on 2 November, with its own calendar listing performances through November and December. Presleys’ Christmas Jubilee and Legends in Concert: A Merry Country Christmas both run Christmas productions through the season, with dates on their own listings.

Several more sit alongside them, including Christmas Wonderland, Sanders Family Christmas, the Pierce Arrow Ozark Mountain Christmas Spectacular and Christmas in the Heartland.

How Do the Branson Christmas Dinner Shows Compare?

Branson runs an unusual number of Christmas dinner shows for a town its size, and they are not interchangeable. The meal, the room and the run dates all differ. Shepherd of the Hills alone lists three across the season, and the Stampede runs its own with 32 horses in the performance.

The formats differ more than the listings suggest. The Stampede seats you around an arena where the show runs in front of you while you eat, with 32 horses in the performance. Run dates are where they differ most from each other. One you walk and one you drive, which makes them very different evenings.

The park’s own figure for An Old Time Christmas is over 6.5 million lights, and new for 2026 is the Stars, Lights and Christmas Nights Parade. Because it sits inside a theme park, the park lists the lights alongside its shows, handcrafted gifts and food, which is the practical difference from a display you visit and leave.

Shepherd of the Hills describes the Trail of Lights as its original drive-through display, running through the 160-acre homestead. It is driven rather than walked, which is worth weighing in cold or wet weather. Of the two displays it opens first, three days before Silver Dollar City, and the two close on the same date.

Worth knowing if you are booking a dinner show anyway: Shepherd of the Hills states that the Old Trail Christmas dinner show ticket includes the Trail of Lights. That was the only ticket we saw covering both while checking the operators for this guide, though we did not price every production, so compare it against booking the two separately.

That recommendation comes with one caveat about weather. The park is outdoors and the Ozarks in December can be genuinely cold, so an evening there is a different proposition in a mild first week of November than it is just before New Year. Dress for standing outside after dark rather than for the drive over.

If the trip is built around younger children, the North Pole Adventure at Shepherd of the Hills runs 13 November to 27 December, and the carriage rides run alongside it from 17 November to 18 December. Both close earlier than the headline attractions, so they need booking before the Christmas week itself rather than during it.

Which Week Should You Book?

Mid-November to mid-December is the only stretch when every tracked production is running at the same time. Precisely, all ten overlap from 17 November, when the carriage rides open, to 18 December, when they close. If your dates are open, that is the window with the most choice in it.

Working through the calendar in order gives a clear shape. The first week of November is the thinnest, with one production running on the first of the month and seven by the fifth. The second week is when the season properly fills out, with Silver Dollar City opening on the seventh and the North Pole Adventure on the thirteenth.

From 17 November to 18 December everything is open at once. That is the only stretch of the year when all ten tracked productions overlap, and it is the answer for anyone who wants the full choice without competing for Christmas week itself.
