Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, which makes it an easy night to plan around on a Branson trip. If you are visiting, an organized event where businesses or volunteers hand out the candy in one place is usually easier than walking unfamiliar streets with the kids.
This guide covers the trick-or-treat events we could confirm for 2026, with dates, times and locations from each organizer, plus one Silver Dollar City rule about costumes that is worth knowing before you pack. For everything else on around town this fall, start at Vacation Branson.
Every event detail below was read on the organizer’s own website in October 2026, and the safety tips come from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Outdoor events can change for weather, so check the organizer’s page on the day.

Does Branson Do Anything for Halloween?
Yes. In 2026 there are three trick-or-treat events: the city’s free Halloween BOOnanza on Friday October 30, and Branson Landing’s Safe Street Trick-or-Treating and CoxHealth’s free Trunk or Treat on Saturday October 31. Families can also visit a pumpkin night walk, a pumpkin patch and a Halloween-themed coaster in the weeks before.
| Event | Date | Time | Where | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Halloween BOOnanza | Friday October 30 | 6pm to 8pm | Branson RecPlex ball field complex | Free |

What Is Safe Street Trick-or-Treating at Branson Landing?
Safe Street Trick-or-Treating is Branson Landing’s Halloween event, and 2026 is its 20th year. On Saturday October 31, kids trick-or-treat up and down The Promenade, collecting treats from participating businesses. Look for Halloween pumpkin signs in store windows to find the shops taking part, and teal pumpkins for allergy-friendly treats.
The teal pumpkins are worth knowing about if your child has a food allergy. Branson Landing says teal pumpkin signs mark businesses offering food allergy-friendly treats or non-food goodies, so you can steer toward those shops.
The event also brings back the annual Thriller Dance by Sonshine Dance and Fitness, performed at three spots during the evening:
- Near Belk at 5:30pm
- Near Bass Pro at 6:15pm
- Near The Fountains at 7:05pm
The event page does not list a start and end time for the trick-or-treating itself, so check with Branson Landing before you go. It sits at 100 Branson Landing Blvd, and our Branson Landing page has the venue listing.
What Is the Halloween BOOnanza?
The Halloween BOOnanza is a free celebration run by Branson Parks and Recreation on Friday October 30, 2026, from 6pm to 8pm at the Branson RecPlex ball field complex. The city lists trick-or-treating, bounce houses and kids’ costume contests, and it encourages everyone to come in costume.
The city has also invited local businesses to hand out candy from booths along the ballfield walking path.
Because it is the night before Halloween, the BOOnanza pairs well with the Saturday events if you are in town for the weekend. The city announced the event on its City of Branson news page, and questions go to the Branson RecPlex at 417-335-2368.
Where Is the CoxHealth Trunk or Treat?
CoxHealth’s Trunk or Treat in Branson is on Saturday October 31, 2026, from 5pm to 8pm, in the parking lot of the CoxHealth Therapy and Specialty Center at 121 Cahill Road. It is free. CoxHealth describes it as a safe, family-friendly alternative to door-to-door trick-or-treating, with Halloween-themed booths, games for all ages and treats from its staff.
Its three-hour window overlaps with the Thriller Dance times at Branson Landing, so on Halloween night you can choose one or try to fit in both.
Can Kids Wear Costumes at Silver Dollar City?
No. Silver Dollar City says that for the safety and security of all park guests, costumes are not allowed to be worn by guests at the park, and its Harvest Festival page in October carries that same notice. If your trip includes the park, pack costumes for an evening event instead and visit the park in everyday clothes.
Harvest Festival itself runs through Saturday October 31, so the park is still a big part of a Halloween week visit. The park is closed on Tuesday October 20, Tuesday October 27 and Wednesday October 28, so check its calendar before you plan the day. Our Silver Dollar City listing has more on the park.
What Else Can Families Do for Halloween in Branson?
Beyond trick-or-treating, two of the easiest family outings are Pumpkins Aglow, a half-mile night walk past thousands of illuminated pumpkins at Shepherd of the Hills through October 31, and the pumpkin patch at McKenna Family Farm, open through November 1. Shepherd of the Hills says Pumpkins Aglow has no jump scares and is not too spooky for young children.

Pumpkins Aglow at Shepherd of the Hills
Pumpkins Aglow runs September 12 to October 31, 2026, at Shepherd of the Hills, 5585 W 76 Country Blvd. The trail opens at dusk with timed entry on Fridays to Sundays and select Wednesdays and Thursdays. It is a half-mile, one-way trail with thousands of illuminated pumpkins and displays, including a haunted zoo, a skeleton army and classic Halloween characters.
Entry is $19.99 for adults 13 and up and $17.99 for children 3 to 12, plus tax, and ages 3 and under are free. Tickets are non-refundable, and the last ticket is sold one hour before closing. The park notes that most PumpkinFest activities close during the night walk.
McKenna Family Farm Pumpkin Patch
McKenna Family Farm, at 3265 State Highway F, runs its 2026 season from September 26 to November 1. Admission to the activities area is $9 per person for ages 3 to 65 and $4.50 for 66 and older, and children 2 and under are free. Admission is paid at the entrance.
The activities area includes a bounce pillow, a jump pad, a wood pallet maze, a hay bale maze, a corn box, slides and swings, plus what the farm calls a fun, not scary, tractor-pulled hayride through its woods. You do not need to pay admission to buy pumpkins or produce, because the barn and pumpkin area sit outside the admission area. Animals are not allowed in the activities area.
- Monday and Tuesday: closed
- Wednesday and Thursday: 10am to 6pm
- Friday and Saturday: 10am to 7pm
- Sunday: 11am to 7pm
For Older Kids and Teens
If your older kids want something scarier, Branson has haunted attractions running on October nights, several with their own age advice, so check each one before you buy tickets. Shepherd of the Hills also runs Copperhead Mountain Coaster haunted nights it describes as family friendly.
What Halloween Safety Tips Should Families Know?
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration publishes Halloween tips for pedestrians and drivers, and they apply on any busy trick-or-treat evening in Branson. For families on foot, it recommends a buddy system so nobody walks home alone, following the rules of the road, and crossing at crosswalks or intersections while looking for cars in all directions.
If you are driving between events on Halloween night, the same agency asks drivers to be alert for trick-or-treaters, slow down and scan the road, and watch for young children in unexpected places, since children may dart into the street. Its full list is on the NHTSA Halloween safety page.
Two Branson-specific points add to that. At Branson Landing, look for the teal pumpkin signs if your child has a food allergy. And if you are driving to the BOOnanza or the CoxHealth event, plan your route ahead, since both run into the evening.
How Should You Plan Halloween Weekend?
With Halloween on a Saturday, a two-night stay covers all three trick-or-treat events. Go to the BOOnanza on Friday evening from 6pm to 8pm, then choose between Branson Landing’s Safe Street and the CoxHealth Trunk or Treat on Saturday evening. Fill the daytime with a pumpkin patch visit or a day at Silver Dollar City, without costumes.
A few tips help the weekend go smoothly:
- Bring treat bags and a jacket for the evening events.
- If your child has a food allergy, look for the teal pumpkin signs at Branson Landing.
- Book Pumpkins Aglow ahead if you want a specific night, since entry is timed and tickets are non-refundable.
- Leave costumes in the car or hotel if you are visiting Silver Dollar City that day.
